Dawbarn Awards
Valley Alliance for Education Board members work closely each year with the Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge to review nominations for the Dawbarn Awards. Created to reward individuals for their work to improve public education, encourage good citizenship, and foster learning among young people in the public schools of Augusta County, Staunton, and Waynesboro, Dawbarn Awards may be given to teachers, guidance counselors, secretaries, bus drivers, custodians, school volunteers, tutors, community leaders, and others who have a positive impact on public education. Business Exchange
Fostering positive communication between leaders in education and business helps schools and employers. Valley Alliance for Education works closely with the Greater Augusta Regional Chamber of Commerce Education Committee to stay in touch with the needs of area employers. Read More >>
Tom Harris Mentorship Program
Now operated by the Augusta County, Staunton, and Waynesboro public school systems, the successful Tom Harris Mentorship Program was originally launched by Valley Alliance for Education, which remains connected in the process of encouraging area businesses and non-profit organizations to serve as mentors for high school students.
